Supporting Quality Education and Rural School Development – Manthreethenna Vidyalaya, Ragala

As part of our ongoing commitment to community development and in alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – Quality Education, our organization undertook an initiative to support students in need.

On 04th May 2026, we extended our support to Manthreethenna Vidyalaya, Ragala, and a rural school serving children from underprivileged families. The school, which caters to 185 students, faces significant infrastructure challenges, with classes being conducted in shared hall spaces divided by temporary partitions.

To enhance the learning environment, the initiative focused on the construction of a dedicated classroom space, enabling students to access a more structured and focused learning setting. In addition, the school premises were painted, improved with lighting, and minor repairs were carried out to create a more safe, clean, and conducive educational environment.

This initiative aimed to promote inclusive and equitable quality education (SDG 4) by improving learning conditions and supporting better educational outcomes for rural students.

The program was organized by Yamuna Priyadharshini, Deputy Manager – Leasing/Loans (Head of Branch), under the leadership of Mr. Mahendra Amunugama, Senior Regional Manager. It was successfully implemented with the support of the Ragala Branch team, under the guidance of the Sustainable Governance Committee chaired by Mr. Laksanda Gunawardena, Chief Operating Officer, along with committee members, parents, and volunteers.

Through such initiatives, the organization reaffirms its commitment to SDG 4 – Quality Education, while also contributing to SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, by supporting underserved communities and fostering long-term social development.
